‘I would do it again’: Rea Gopane reopens Bonang drama, claims case was thrown out

Rea Gopane claims he faced no consequence for what he said about Bonang
Podcaster-turned-DJ Rea Gopane revisits his highly publicised fallout with media personality Bonang Matheba.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Nine8o Network podcast, Rea reflected on the controversy that erupted in 2022 when he made allegations involving Bonang and her late ex-boyfriend, AKA.
The claims led to legal action, with Bonang reportedly filing a R500,000 lawsuit and demanding a public apology and retraction.
Looking back, Rea admitted he was in the wrong for making the statements but maintained that he does not regret how things unfolded.
“I have no regrets. If I were at the same place, same time, same age, I would do it again,” he said.
He went on to acknowledge his mistake, adding, “I was wrong; I shouldn’t have said that about anybody.”
According to him, “it was blown out of proportion… it was never going to get as far as it did if she didn’t put petrol onto the fire.”
Rea also described his actions at the time as clout-driven, claiming the situation did not have the impact many assumed.
“In public it looks like I went through some sht, but privately nothing happened. There were no consequences,”* he said.
Addressing the legal matter, he further alleged that he never paid the R500,000, stating, “I still haven’t paid. The case was thrown out by the judge because I filed for unemployment.”
[NO CONSEQUENCES?]😳
“In the public it looked like I went through some sh¡t but privately, NOTHING really happened”🤣
