AKA murder case moves to High Court as Ndimande brothers face trial

Ndimande brothers to stand trial in AKA murder case
The case against Siyabonga Ndimande and Malusi Ndimande has taken a major step forward after it was officially transferred to the Durban High Court.
The brothers are among several accused linked to the killing of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his close friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, who were shot dead outside a popular Florida Road restaurant in February 2023.
They face serious charges, including double murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder, as authorities build a case around what is believed to have been a coordinated hit.
The matter will now proceed alongside five co-accused, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni and another accused also named Lindokuhle Ndimande, all of whom are expected to stand trial together.
Their decision to abandon bail applications has effectively cleared the way for the case to move straight into trial proceedings, accelerating the legal process after months of developments.
Prosecutors are expected to rely heavily on forensic findings, CCTV footage and cellphone records in an effort to link the accused to the fatal shooting, which sent shockwaves across the country and remains one of South Africa’s most closely followed murder cases.
A pre-trial conference has been set for 19 June, with the trial anticipated to begin in July as the case enters a critical new phase.
