“I’m doing me”: Cassper Nyovest fumes after fan questions if he can save SA hip hop

Cassper Nyovest shuts down talks about saving SA hip hop
Cassper Nyovest has fired back at social media pressure after an X user questioned whether he would be the artist to save South African hip hop.
The conversation started after a user posted: “Y’all think Cassper Nyovest gonna save SA hip hop with this one?”
The comment seemingly struck a nerve with the rapper, who responded with a lengthy post addressing criticism he believes he has faced throughout his career.
Cassper expressed frustration over what he described as constant disrespect from sections of the South African hip hop community despite his commercial success and consistency in the industry.
In his response, the award-winning rapper wrote: “How is that pressure put on me now when SA Hip Hop says I’m not the one. I’m the one guy that’s written off at all times, no matter how good the music or the numbers are.”
The rapper added that he no longer feels the need to prove himself to critics and would rather focus on making music for himself and supporters who appreciate his work.
“I’d like to be left alone nje so I can just do what I want. The disrespect has been loud and I need it to be louder. I don’t care anymore. I’m doing me!! This run is for ME and whoever is gonna like what I’m doing.”
Cassper also ended his statement with a blunt message directed at critics, saying those who dislike his current direction can simply ignore his work.
