One of the biggest mistakes for adults to make is to have children that they don’t want or aren’t ready for.

Below are 10 reasons why couple should not have kids after marriage.

1. Strain relationships

Marriages tend to suffer after the birth of a child. Bringing children into a relationship changes a lot of things. Whether it causes frustration, financial duress, or simply more arguments, these issues can result in the separation of two people.

2. Invest time

Parents have to invest a lot of time into teaching children essential skills and values, and this often means sacrificing their own passions and needs.

3. Financial burden

Between diapers, formula, clothes, food, furniture. children can be very expensive. You will have to spend more on a child than you would spend on yourself.

4. Parents tend to be less healthy

Each new parent loses a staggering 109 minutes of sleep every night for the first year after having a baby. You tend to eat unhealthy and less meals because you have a baby to both think about.

It can be very unhealthy and you can suffer from daytime sleepiness, anxiety, depression, non-refreshing sleep, and fatigue.

5. Negatively impact on happiness

Having kids make most couples unhappy and stressed everyday. Children are expensive, making it difficult for some parents to pay the bills.

6. Bias in the workplace

Motherhood triggers assumptions that women are less competent and less committed to their careers. You won’t seen as serious when you’re doing your job.

7. Life on hold

Whether you want to travel or go out with your friends or do something together as a couple. You would have to put things on hold when there’s a child involved. Kids would be the number one priority and your needs will both came after.

8. Global warming

Having no kids will have a far greater effect on carbon dioxide emissions, and therefore be one of the best things things you could do for the environment. This will be great as, you will be reducing home energy use, travel, food choices.

9. Work-life balance disturbances

You will have difficulty balancing your work life and being able to spend time with your kids and having no sleep because your child was up all night. This could take a toll on your professional reputation or lead to dangerous or costly mistakes.

When you’re tired, your ability to work productively and think clearly might suffer.

10. Energy demands

You will need more energy as parents. You can’t have lazy days anymore where you will spend most the day in bed. Your time will resolve around your child and you would be on their schedule.
