10 tips for frequent travellers

If you travel frequently on work and feel hassled about the little time you get to pack, here are some quick fixes that will keep your tour hassles at bay.

1. Baggage tags

Many people tend to take the security of their baggage for granted. It is advisable to remove the old tags and replace them with new tags with your name and address clearly mentioned on it. It gets easier for the airlines to search for your bags in case of it getting misplaced during transfers.


2. Eating right

During your rushed hops between airports, make sure you don,t skip your meals. Eating right is essential to keep your immunity well-boosted and prevent common infections of influenza and fever, especially during the rains.

3. Do not overpack

Footwear tends to take a lot of space in the travel bag. Do not overpack with too many options, carry only what you will use more than twice.

4. Sightseeing

If you like to move from place to place, you could consider sightseeing during your free hours. Keep a destination guide handy and visit those select places. Do not tire yourself by planning a hectic sight-seeing schedule.

5. Carry foreign currency

It is advisable to carry some currency of the country you are visiting instead of waiting to withdraw money when you reach your destination. Small change can help in cab and food bills etc.

6. Important numbers

An updated phonebook along with addresses and copies of your documents of the hotel stay etc can come handy when you need to connect with the authorities. Photocopies of the passport can also be kept in the folder along with your passport size photographs. Countries which offer visa on arrival ask for photographs to be attested on the entry forms.

7. Watch out for eager helpers

At a new destination, you could feel and look lost, some eager strangers may want to force their guidance on to you. Be wary of such people. Stay clear of them bringing the cab for you or taking you to your destination in their vehicles. Always approach airport authorities to help you with correct information.

8. Money pouch

All of us tend to make a mistake by putting all the cash in the same wallet and placing it in the handbag. Women often go easy on that aspect during travels. A pouch around the waist can be really handy. Keep your cash away from accessible areas of your bag.

9. Don’t fear foreign languages

There is no need to worry or fret over travelling to foreign locations where English may not be a well-spoken language. Most countries have signages which clearly give directions. Look out for such sign boards.

10. A picture on your camera

Many people have started to use pictures on their cellphone to ask for directions to the nearest restroom, eateries or a bus station. If language is posing to be a barrier, then take pictures on your phone or camera and use them to ask for directions. Often a traffic cop can be good help.

11. Carry your work clothes

Do not carry all the clothes you would need on your tour in the bag that you are likely to check-in. One set of clothes for emergency use can be kept in your handbag. Carry a small pouch of regular medicines with a doctor’s prescription (if needed) and cosmetics in your handbag itself.
