Compliments, when poured in the right way, can make or break a person’s day. In fact, it’s the best way to get anyone’s attention.
So, when a man wants to impress a woman they wouldn’t mind showering her with praises like, “I think you are the most amazing person I have ever met. Where were you before?” or “Your smile means the world to me, honey!”
While a few may mean it earnestly, others may be just saying the words to impress the woman.
When it comes to faking, people don’t just stop at compliments. It can be emotions, lifestyle or even their attitude.
While it’s true for both the sexes, let’s look at a few common things that some men may lie about to impress a woman.
1. Likes and dislikes
Before you thank your stars for meeting a man whose likes and dislikes are completely similar to yours, give it a second thought. Many men fake about their areas of interest to surprise their dates and in turn, earn their rapt attention. If you have a keen interest in animal welfare, history, art, reading and so does he, ask him a few more questions on these subjects and it would clear all your doubts.
2. Past relationships
Some men like to project themselves as ‘ideal boyfriends’ by blaming their ex-girlfriend or the circumstances for their failed relationships. They paint a gloomy picture of their past and try to gain sympathy. Well, things could have gone haywire in their past but was he as innocent as he sounds? Doing a little background check won’t be a bad idea.
3. Physical fitness
This is one of the most common topics men fake about. A lot of men believe that fitness is a test of their muscularity, and when they don’t have it, they simply fake it. If a men brags about how he can do 40 push-ups in a minute, lift tons of weights with ease or run on treadmill for an hour, take his words with a pinch of salt.
4. Faking expenditure
Lying about their salary and faking a lavish lifestyle is not very uncommon among men. However, they forget that they are simply inviting trouble by lying about their lifestyle. They can’t keep up with this enormous expenditure for a long time and ultimately, they will arrive at a point when they will have to stop showing-off.
5. His love for your friends
If even he hates the sight of your close friends for some reason, he might put up a fake smile and string a few words together to praise them. But why, boy? You are interested in the girl and not in her entire friend circle. It is the best to be honest about this issue and happily maintain a distance from her friends if you aren’t very fond of them.
6. When he says he thinks about all the time
It is not practically possible to think about someone round the clock. Even if a man manages to do that, it only shows how idle he is. No sane person can think about one topic the whole day because there are so many things to do in a day.
7. I am a feminist!
Not every man understands the meaning of the word ‘feminism’ but loves to call himself a feminist. He might be the same man who will advise you to return home before 8:00 pm or would be gossiping about his female colleagues for performing better than him at work.
