Matthew Lani arrested
Fake doctor Matthew Lani has been arrested at the Helen Joseph Hospital in Gauteng.
The Tik Tok sensation utilised social media over the past weeks to pronounce himself a qualified doctor despite doubts from other social media users.
He claimed to be a graduate of Wits and Cambridge University, but the institutions denied him despite claiming he used his real name.
The Gauteng health department released a statement confirming that Matthew has been nabbed.
Departmenet spokesperson Motalatale Modiba revealed that the hospital’s security arrested the “fake” doctor.
“He was apprehended while entering the main entrance of the facility, while disguised in a hoodie and wearing a surgical mask with a stethoscope around his neck,” Modiba said.
“Immediately after being apprehended Lani requested to go to the bathroom only to attempt to escape by jumping through the bathroom window. When the security realised that he was making a run for it, they called for reinforcement, and he was subsequently apprehended again, ” he added.
