South African vocal group The Joy gave a sterling performance at Coachella 2024.
The group, made up of five teenage boys from the township of Hammarsdale in Mpumalanga joined Doja Cat to open her headline performance at the American festival.
The group made their U.K. debut TV appearances when they appeared on the BBC coverage of Glastonbury and as part of Jools Holland’s 30th anniversary.
Taking to social media, they shared a video clip of the stage performance and captioned it with words of gratitude.
“It’s been so hard to keep this a secret!! Tonight we performed with the amazing @dojacat on @coachella ‘s main stage in front of 100 000 people! Thank you Amala, or rather Zandile 😋Thank you to the incredible team that made this moment happen. You made us feel very welcome! And thank you to everyone who reached out after watching the stream from all around the world.”
