Senzo Meyiwa’s family claims that they have not had access to the deceased’s daughter, Thingo for the past 10 years.
The late soccer star and Kelly had a romantic relationship before he was killed, but their union birthed the young girl.
The family said they met Thingo once, when her father brought her to her grandparents’ home in Umlazi, near Durban.
“Family members were still hurt at the time. It’s understandable that she could not bring Thingo to Senzo’s funeral because the whole country blamed his death on her,” the source revealed to Zimoja.
“It has been ten years now, and Senzo’s mother Ntombi and his sister Zama, are desperate to have a relationship with the girl,” the source added.
“All they want is to spend time with Thingo so that she knows her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. It is unfair for the child to only hear about the Meyiwa family in the media and not spend time with them.”
Zimoja reports that the family would love to teach Thingo the Meyiwa’s rituals as she grows.
Senzo’s sister Zama Meyiwa confirmed that the family is not happy as they saw the girl when she was 6 months old.
“The whole family is not happy at the fact that we don’t have access to her, and she is a big part of our family and she looks like my brother, I just wish we could spend time with her even if it’s an hour,” she said.
