Shimza slams people criticizing organisers of DStv Delicious Festival

South African DJ Shimza has come to the defense of the DStv Delicious Festival after organizers faced widespread criticism over poor weather planning.

The festival, known for its vibrant mix of music, food, and entertainment, was heavily impacted by unexpected weather conditions, leaving many attendees frustrated.

Social media was flooded with complaints, with critics arguing that the organizers should have been better prepared for bad weather.

Suggestions ranged from adding large marquees to protect attendees to postponing the event altogether.

Many felt the lack of contingency plans diminished the festival experience, especially given the magnitude of the event.

Shimza, however, offered a different perspective, responding to the backlash in a detailed post.

He explained the challenges that promoters face when dealing with unpredictable weather, particularly when it changes so close to the event.

“With all due respect and from a promoter’s point of view, there’s really not much you can do with such weather that decided to take a turn 2/3 days before an event of that magnitude. By then, you’re about 80% done with everything. It’s very unfair for people to have expected Delicious to ‘get a marquee or even postpone.’ Very unfortunate but we hope for the best,” Shimza wrote.

His comments sparked a conversation around the realities of event planning, with some agreeing that last-minute weather changes are often beyond control, while others still believed more could have been done to mitigate the impact.
