Nominees of the Best Hip Hop album announced

The South African Music Awards (SAMA) announced nominees for the 30th edition on Thursday morning, and it featured some of SA rap stars.

Five rappers were nominated for the Best Hip Hop Album category – Flvme, Nasty C, Wordz, Priddy Ugly and The Big Hash.


Nasty C – I Love It Here
Known for his global appeal and consistency, Nasty C‘s project I Love It Here made waves both locally and internationally. The album blends introspection with hard-hitting bars, highlighting Nasty C’s evolution as an artist and his ability to connect with fans on a deeper level.

Wordz – People Forget To Be People
Wordz brought a refreshing voice to South African hip hop with People Forget To Be People. The album is packed with sharp lyricism and social commentary, earning the rapper recognition for his thought-provoking work in a year which was filled with powerful releases.

The Big Hash – Heartbreak Hotel
The Big Hash’s Heartbreak Hotel is a reflection of personal growth, emotional depth, and a unique fusion of hip-hop with R&B elements. This project sees him exploring new sounds while staying true to his storytelling roots, earning him a well-deserved nomination.

Priddy Ugly – DUST
This is a project that most SA Hip-hop fans will likely want to see win the award following massive praises upon its release early this year. Priddy Ugly‘s DUST delivers a thought-provoking and gritty narrative, marking a bold artistic statement. The project received critical acclaim for its lyricism and introspective themes, solidifying Priddy Ugly’s place in South Africa’s hip-hop elite.

Flvme – Note To Self
