Since ancient days, natural turmeric has been used as a medicine, and as a beauty requisite, that has been passed onto the generations.
People, nowadays are trying to induce more natural ways to take care of their skin and hair, and have finally realised the power of natural ingredients.
Amongst the lot, natural turmeric is used unconditionally by many women for spots, blemishes, and acne, and to get an overall natural glow.

Amidst its pros, do not forget that turmeric does not suit every skin tone because of its strong properties, and if you’re using it in the wrong manner, then instantly avoid the application on your face.

1. Severe skin irritation

If you have sensitive or severe acne-prone skin then avoid the use of turmeric face packs. Turmeric is known for its notorious nature which can lead to excess itching, burning, and redness. This increases when you mix the product with other raw substances, and increases the higher tendencies of hypersensitivity. Thus, start with a patch test and then apply it all over your face.

2. Lookout for the yellow stain

If you have an urgent date night or a special occasion, never apply turmeric right before you sit for your makeup. Turmeric has curcumin which is a natural tonic that leaves a yellow tint or stain on the skin, which is hard to wash out immediately. Higher concentrations of turmeric and excess application can lead to a darker tint of yellow which can take days to wash out.

3. Can strip off the natural oil

If you’re constantly using turmeric masks, it can result in dehydration of the skin. Rich in antioxidants, it reduces inflammation and redness that strips off the natural skin’s oil and can further hamper your moisture levels. This can result in dryness and flakiness issues, which can increase the chances of breakouts.

4. People with complicated skin conditions should avoid

If you’re having conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, then turmeric would worsen it, as it will be very strong for your skin’s condition which can hamper the cure of the existing skin disorder and would create more issues on the skin.

5. How to use it?

Always opt for a natural turmeric powder and not the one from a factory, as it has many other harmful ingredients that can instantly lead to a burning and redness sensation. Try to find a natural turmeric powder and add 1 teaspoon of honey or yoghurt. Apply this paste twice a week and see the result, if the paste suits your facial skin. Always start with a patch test.
