Mbuyiseni Ndlozi departs EFF

Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has officially parted ways with the EFF. Speaking in an interview with the SABC, he confirmed his decision to step away from party politics entirely.

“I’ve taken a decision to step away completely from party politics. I’m leaving party politics. I think I’ve made my contribution in that space,” he stated.

The former EFF spokesperson emphasized that South Africa is not a one-party state, and every individual has the right to participate in politics as they see fit. Going forward, he plans to focus on academia, believing it plays a crucial role in shaping national discourse.

Additionally, he sees civil society as a neglected space that requires more attention.

“But most importantly, I think the terrain of struggle that has been neglected over the years is the civil society space. I’m interested in it because it is where you are able to cultivate and agitate the notions of freedom where liberation is about the people,” he explained.

For the first time, Ndlozi also addressed his suspension from the EFF, which he described as “unconventional.” He revealed that the leadership accused him of being involved in an infiltration strategy by MKP and of withholding information about Floyd Shivambu’s departure.

Refuting these claims, he asserted, “I can state categorically now that I never planned to join the MKP. I still don’t. I never worked with anybody in MKP in relation to some conspiracy about my departure.

“He maintained that Shivambu’s departure was not his decision to disclose, adding, “It was not my decision. It was his. He had to communicate it, and he did.”
