Pastor Mboro goes broke due to court case

Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng is feeling the financial strain following his arrest in August last year.

The leader of Incredible Happenings Church made a brief court appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court today, where he spoke about the impact of the case on his life.

Addressing the media outside the courtroom, Mboro claimed that his arrest had tarnished his reputation, causing a decline in church attendance and leaving him with significant financial losses.

“My income, the defamation of my character, and the loyal people lost their spiritual home. So the damage is there. I think when you calculate the income that I was going to make, the destruction of my value and wealth is over R60 million,” he said.

Mboro was taken into custody last year after a video of him at a primary school in Katlehong went viral.

The footage showed him wielding pangas, alongside a gunman, while children screamed in distress.

The incident was reportedly linked to a custody dispute, but the controversial church leader has insisted he is innocent.

He and his co-accused, including his son Revival Motsoeneng, are facing charges of kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault.

Following his arrest, Mboro was granted bail of R3,000, while his co-accused spent forty days behind bars before being released on a warning.

The case remains ongoing.
