Felix Hlophe dismisses claims of being involved with his wife’s friend Zama

Felix Hlophe has finally responded to the wave of backlash sparked by his reality show and a viral clip that set tongues wagging.

The Gagasi FM personality became the centre of controversy when a video surfaced showing him looking a little too comfortable with his wife’s best friend, Zama Khumalo.

In an interview with Sunday World, Hlophe addressed the swirling rumours head-on.

“There’s nothing going on between myself and Zama,” he said firmly.

“She’s a close friend of my wife and part of her support system. She means a lot to our family; she’s like a mother to my children. And she’s strict and respectable, and I’ve never seen her in a romantic light. Our friendship is genuine, honest, and transparent. I honestly don’t understand why people are reading into it.”

The reality TV star also took aim at critics of Life with Felix Hlophe, which has stirred debate since its debut in May 2025.

While social media has been vocal with negative opinions, Hlophe says the numbers tell a different story.

“South Africans often have negative things to say about reality shows. I’m not shaken or bothered by the comments. That’s just how viewers here are, they complain, yet they keep watching. Ironically, my show is one of the most watched.”

But the drama doesn’t end there. Hlophe also opened up about his desire to take a second wife, a decision that has not gone down well with his current wife, Tracy.

He revealed that his girlfriend, Ayanda Bhengu, is not just a fling, but someone he’s serious about and intends to marry.

“There’s nothing wrong with isithembu,” he said, defending his stance.

While Tracy and Ayanda once had a cordial relationship, Hlophe admitted things have since soured, with his wife no longer supporting the idea of polygamy.
