Sol Phenduka reportedly suspended from Kaya FM due to Minnie Dlamini’s lawsuit
Radio host and podcaster Sol Phenduka has been taken off air at Kaya 959, with the station confirming on Wednesday, August 20, that his suspension is effective immediately.
Although Kaya 959 only mentioned an “internal process” as the reason behind the decision, industry veteran DJ Fresh suggested the move is linked to Minnie Dlamini’s R2.5 million lawsuit against Phenduka and his Podcast and Chill co-host, MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho.
The case, which has been filed in the Equality Court, stems from controversial remarks made on their podcast.
Dlamini claims the duo defamed her with degrading comments about her personal life and hygiene following her split from Dr Brian Monaisa, describing the statements as harassment, hate speech, and gender-based discrimination.
According to court documents, she is demanding R1 million in damages for harm to her dignity, along with an additional R1.5 million to be directed to an organization that combats gender-based violence.
Kaya 959, in its statement, stressed that the matter is being handled with “fairness, sensitivity, and due process,” but declined to provide further details, leaving fans and industry insiders speculating about what comes next.
