Black Coffee’s pricey R5 million watch sets tongues wagging on X
DJ and producer Black Coffee has once again found himself trending on social media, this time over a luxury wristwatch spotted in a recent photo he shared on Instagram.
The photo, which later circulated on X (formerly Twitter) after being reposted by MDN News, drew attention to the star’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel; a timepiece reportedly worth more than R5 million.
While some fans praised the international hitmaker for his taste in high-end fashion, others were quick to spark debate about wealth, spending, and responsibility.
One user criticized, “Why doesn’t he donate to the poor?” while another questioned the value in a global context.
“How much is R5 million in dollars? I mean the bro is used to spending in dollars, like 90% of his time he spends outside the country, so to him R5 million is nothing unless it was in dollars.”
Controversial social media figure Chris Excel also chimed in with a jab, writing: “Mbali fumbled here.”
The debate continued, with some suggesting Black Coffee could have used the money to create jobs, while others defended him.
