Ntsiki Mazwai questions Nathi Mthethwa’s death
South African activist and poet Ntsiki Mazwai has raised eyebrows after hinting that the late Nathi Mthethwa’s passing may not have been as straightforward as it seemed.
Mthethwa, the former Minister of Police and South Africa’s Ambassador to France, died recently, leaving many citizens shocked.
However, Mazwai suggested that there could be “foul play” involved, pointing out the timing of his death.
She noted that Mthethwa’s name appeared on the list of witnesses expected to testify before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s claims of political interference in the justice system.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) page on Tuesday, 30 September 2025, Mazwai shared the list of witnesses and commented on the unusual timing, sparking heated debates online.
Her post quickly gained traction, with some South Africans agreeing with her suspicions.
One netizen echoed her thoughts, writing, “Where there’s smoke…” while others debated whether the activist was simply fueling unnecessary speculation.
Mthethwa’s death continues to draw mixed reactions, and Mazwai’s controversial remarks have only intensified the discussion.
