Mzansi roasts Lekau Sehoana as Kite Footwear accused of being Temu rebrands
Businessman Lekau Sehoana is back with a new sneaker venture, Kite Footwear, following the liquidation of his once-popular brand, Drip Footwear, earlier this year.
Photos of the new sneakers surfaced online and quickly went viral, sparking heated debates across social media.
While some were curious about the brand’s direction, many X users accused Sehoana of rebranding cheap imports and passing them off as original designs.
One unimpressed user wrote: “Man’s just reselling shoes off Temu and adding 300% mark up… 😭😭😭🤦🏾♂️ In the name of support black business… More like support Chinese through black business.”
Others joined in with criticism, with one post reading: “Hommie genuinely needs to look for a job now.”
Another user recalled past complaints about Drip, writing: “When we complained about Drip for the same thing, you guys said we were hating. Go and buy that Temu shoe for R2000k, support local.”
Screenshots allegedly comparing Kite sneakers to items sold on Temu also made rounds, further fueling the backlash.
One user concluded: “Fr, I don’t know why he can’t invest in a legit brand with original designs. He knows the business field and has industry experience; he should structure a solid plan and ditch the knockoff sneakers with logos.”
