Trevor Noah bags his first Grammys nomination

Trevor Noah has added yet another milestone to his already impressive career; this time as a Grammy nominee.

The South African-born comedian and former The Daily Show host, who has hosted the Grammy Awards for five consecutive years, is now being recognized not as a presenter, but as a contender.

The nominations for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards were announced on Friday, 7 November 2025, and Noah’s audiobook Into the Uncut Grass earned him a nod in the Best Audiobook category.

He will be competing against Fab Morvan and the Dalai Lama.

The recognition marks a full-circle moment for Noah, who first gained acclaim for his bestselling memoir Born a Crime.

Speaking about his love for storytelling, Noah previously told CBS that he was deeply inspired by the way people connect with spoken stories.

“I loved seeing how different people connect with the story when it is spoken to them. I have always been a storyteller, and I come from a culture of storytellers,” he said.

He also reflected on the educational impact of his work, noting that his first audiobook has become a valuable learning tool for students.

“To have my book as part of the curriculum is a completely different way for learners to learn not just about my story but also about South Africa’s story,” he added.

Noah won’t be the only South African representing at next year’s Grammys.

Global sensation Tyla also secured a nomination for Best African Music Performance with her track Push 2 Start.

The singer previously took home the same award in 2024 for her viral hit Water, which made history as the inaugural winner in the category.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on 1 February 2026.
