DJ Warras feared for his life days before his killing as protection orders come to light

New details have emerged suggesting that Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock was deeply concerned about his safety in the days leading up to his death in Johannesburg’s CBD.

The popular radio host and television presenter was shot and killed on 16 December 2025 near the intersection of Commissioner Street and Von Wielligh Street.

As police continue their investigation, it has now been revealed that DJ Warras had reportedly been receiving death threats more than a week before he was killed.

According to information shared by eNCA, the threats prompted Stock to take legal steps to protect himself.

He is said to have obtained protection orders against five individuals who were living at the Zambezi Building in the Johannesburg CBD.

One of the orders was reportedly secured just days before his death.

At the time of the incident, DJ Warras was allegedly at the building in question as part of work linked to his security company.

The company had reportedly been contracted to assist with securing the property, amid ongoing concerns around hijacked buildings in the city.

Sources say the individuals named in the protection orders were connected to the Zambezi Building, which Stock had been inspecting shortly before he was approached and killed.

These revelations have raised further questions about whether the earlier threats are linked to his murder.

Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with officers reviewing CCTV footage from the area as they work to establish what led to the killing.

No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not yet confirmed the reported protection orders.
