Ntsiki Mazwai shades Pearl Thusi amid DJ Warras memorial backlash

Ntsiki Mazwai pokes fun at Pearl Thusi
Poet and activist Ntsiki Mazwai has jumped into the ongoing controversy surrounding Pearl Thusi’s memorial speech for the late DJ Warras, throwing sharp shade as the online backlash against the actress continues to grow.
Pearl, who remains at the centre of a heated social media storm, has been widely criticised over comments she made during DJ Warras’ memorial service.
Many users accused the Queen Sono actress of making the moment about herself after she spoke about the closeness of their relationship, remarks that some felt were inappropriate given the setting and the grieving family.
The situation escalated further when Pearl suggested during her speech that the late DJ wanted to “cuddle” with her, a comment that sparked outrage and ridicule online.
While some defended her, insisting she was expressing grief in her own way, others felt the remarks crossed a line.
Never one to miss a viral moment, Ntsiki Mazwai weighed in with her trademark sarcasm.
Responding to actor Siv Ngesi, who had shown support for Pearl by posting a pink heart emoji on X, Ntsiki delivered a pointed one-liner that quickly set timelines buzzing.
“Application for cuddles,” Mazwai wrote, a comment many interpreted as a direct jab at both Pearl and Siv Ngesi amid the ongoing “cuddles” debate.

Her post sent social media into a frenzy, with many users applauding her humour and bluntness, while others felt she was adding unnecessary fuel to an already sensitive situation.
Some supporters of Pearl argued that Ntsiki’s comment trivialised grief and ignored the emotional context of the memorial.
Still, a large section of social media couldn’t resist the humour.
