Penny Ntuli’s sudden absence from Jozi FM raises questions
Penny Ntuli has sparked growing concern among listeners after her sudden and unexplained absence from Jozi FM, where she has not been heard on air for over a week.
The popular radio presenter was notably missing from her regular 9am to 12pm slot on Monday, prompting fans and colleagues to question what may be happening behind the scenes.
Her silence has fuelled speculation, particularly as no explanation has been communicated to listeners or staff.
Sources close to Ntuli claim there may be tension between her and the station, although the exact nature of the issue remains unclear.
According to insiders, the situation has raised doubts about her future at Jozi FM.
“I wish to understand why staff are not informed if it is something small. Are people notified if it is really just a minor issue?” said one source familiar with the matter.
Ntuli’s absence has also revived memories of her previous departure from Gagasi FM, which made headlines after she revealed she had been offered a contract paying R2,800.
The revelation triggered public backlash, with listeners and supporters accusing the station of unfair treatment of presenters.
Further fuelling speculation are claims that Ntuli may already be exploring other opportunities.
Sources allege she has recently been requesting contact details of programme managers at other radio stations in Johannesburg.
“Last Sunday she had been calling around, asking for the contact details of a radio programme manager based in Johannesburg,” another source said.
A colleague who asked to remain anonymous said they reached out to Ntuli directly out of concern but were left without clear answers.
“I phoned her, worried, but she beat around the bush and did not give a clear answer. Who knows, maybe she is just preparing for a wedding,” the source said.
