Kabza de Small faces court over alleged R345k Sandton rent debt

Amapiano heavyweight Kabza de Small has set social media buzzing after reports emerged that he is being taken to court over alleged unpaid rent linked to his Sandton apartment.

The producer, whose real name is Kabelo Motha, trended over the weekend following claims that his landlord has filed legal papers accusing him of owing hundreds of thousands of rand in rental arrears.

The story sparked heated debate online, with some fans rushing to defend the star while others questioned how a top-tier musician could fall behind on rent.

According to reports, the dispute centres on a luxury apartment at The Leonardo in Sandton.

Daily Sun reported that the landlord, Zolile Dlamini, alleges Kabza owes between R345,000 and R346,000 in outstanding rent.

Court documents filed at the Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, reportedly state that the lease agreement was valued at R95,000 per month and ran from 2 February 2025 to 31 January 2026.

Kabza de Small’s legal team has since pushed back against the allegations, saying the artist disputes any wrongdoing.

His lawyers reportedly stated that while Motha had not yet received the summons, he maintains that his rental payments were always made through an agent and accepted by the landlord.

“Mr. Motha is committed to clearing his name using the correct legal channels and will not be making any further comments on this matter,” his legal representatives said.
