Senzo Meyiwa case shaken as whistleblower presents 2019 audio

2019 audio allegedly exposes doubts within NPA over Senzo Meyiwa murder suspects

A dramatic turn unfolded in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial after whistleblower Patricia Mashale presented an audio recording dating back to 2019, which she claims raises serious questions about the case currently before the court.

Mashale told the court that the recording originated from Sifiso Meyiwa and allegedly captures suspended National Prosecuting Authority advocate Andrew Chauke making a startling admission.

In the audio, Chauke is purportedly heard suggesting that the NPA itself did not believe the men now standing trial were responsible for the killing of the late football star.

The revelation has intensified scrutiny around the long-running case, which has been marred by delays, controversy and allegations of investigative failures.

While the authenticity and legal weight of the recording are yet to be fully tested, its presentation has added fresh fuel to claims that the prosecution’s case may be fundamentally flawed.

The alleged admission, if proven credible, could have far-reaching implications for the trial, reopening public debate about whether justice for Senzo Meyiwa has been pursued with clarity and integrity more than a decade after his death.
