Emtee apologises to Cassper Nyovest
South African rapper Emtee has publicly apologised to Cassper Nyovest, putting years of tension behind them in a heartfelt social media post.
Taking to X, Emtee directly addressed the award-winning rapper and expressed regret over his past behaviour, acknowledging that he had previously disrespected him.
“@casspernyovest I’m sorry for all the times I disrespected you. Thank you for all the deep conversations. I have nothing against you,” he wrote.
In a message that surprised many fans, Emtee went on to reveal that he had long admired Cassper’s work, even purchasing his debut album.
“I bought your album Tsholofelo n still have it. I dont pose no threat. Thank you for paving the way for us.”
The apology signals a major shift in tone between the two artists, who were once believed to be at odds during different phases of their careers.
Both rappers rose to prominence in the mid-2010s and played significant roles in shaping the direction of South African hip hop.
Cassper Nyovest’s Tsholofelo, released in 2014, is widely regarded as a groundbreaking project that helped cement his place as one of the country’s biggest rap stars.
Emtee, on the other hand, made his mark with chart-topping hits and award-winning projects, building his own loyal fan base.
While Cassper has yet to publicly respond to the apology, Emtee’s message has been seen as a mature step toward unity within the industry.
