Father hospitalized as family mourns murdered Nigerian Bolt driver Isaac Satlat
The family of 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat is reeling after his tragic murder in Pretoria West on 11 February 2026.
Satlat was allegedly strangled by unknown attackers after picking up passengers, and his body, along with his hijacked vehicle, was later discovered abandoned in Atteridgeville.
Family spokesperson Solomon Izang Ashoms revealed that Satlat’s father was hospitalized with dangerously high blood pressure after identifying his son’s body, while his mother and siblings in Nigeria are waiting to see him once arrangements are made for repatriation.
“This is a crime, not a xenophobia issue,” Ashoms said, urging the public not to inflame tensions.
“Isaac was a young, talented, sociable man who was involved in church and modelling. We hope the arrests will help answer why this happened.”
The suspects, including two men and a woman, appeared briefly in Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges of murder and carjacking.
The matter has been postponed to 23 February 2026 as investigations continue.
The case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the dangers faced by ride-hailing drivers, while the family mourns the senseless loss of a young life.
