SA reality TV star Eva Modika stranded in Dubai after airport suspends flights amid Middle East tensions
South African reality TV star Eva Modika has reportedly been left stranded in Dubai after what was meant to be a birthday getaway took an unexpected turn.
Flights at Dubai International Airport were suspended following escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The disruption comes after former US President Donald Trump confirmed a “major combat operation” against Iran.
Dubai’s main airline, Emirates, issued a statement to passengers saying: “Emirates has temporarily suspended all operations to and from Dubai, up until 3pm UAE time (11am GMT) on Sunday, 1 March.”
The suspension follows decisions by both Iran and Iraq to close their airspaces in response to the escalating military action.
Explosions have been reported across parts of the region, including Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, which host US military bases. Blasts have also been reported in Jordan and Qatar.
As a result of the sudden closures and flight suspensions, several travellers, including Modika have been left unable to depart as scheduled, turning what was meant to be a celebratory trip into an unexpected ordeal.
