Ama Qamata lands role in international film ‘Boyz Trip’
South African actress Ama Qamata bags international role
Ama Qamata is continuing her rise on the global stage after being announced as one of the latest additions to the upcoming international action-comedy Boyz Trip.
The news was shared on Instagram, where the production team revealed a growing and diverse lineup of talent joining the film, which is currently being shot in Cape Town.
Highlighting the vision behind the casting, the team emphasised its commitment to representing multiple cultures and backgrounds.
“Hats out the bag! @boyztripmovie has the flyest international cast you’ve ever seen. Our director/executive producer @kscottdirects was quite intentional about bringing on a diverse and international cast with talent from USA, Peru, England and South Africa,” the statement read.
Qamata joins a mix of local and international names, including fellow South African actors Thapelo Mokoena and Bohang Moeko, as well as global talents such as Ama K. Abebrese, Fransisca Aronsson and Alessandra Fuller.
The film also features a strong lead cast, with Siv Ngesi starring alongside Rome Flynn, Algee Smith and Desi Banks.
Described as a high-energy blend of action and comedy, Boyz Trip follows four college friends who set out on a getaway to escape their everyday routines.
What starts as a carefree trip quickly spirals into chaos across international borders, forcing them to rely on their bond, instincts and a bit of luck to make it through.
For Qamata, the role marks another major milestone in an already impressive career.
She first gained widespread recognition for her role as Buhle Ndaba on Gomora, before capturing global attention as Puleng Khumalo in the Netflix hit Blood & Water.
Since then, she has grown into one of South Africa’s most visible young stars, balancing acting with major brand partnerships and international recognition.
