Amapiano star Kelvin Momo has issued an apology to fans and event organisers after failing to show up for a scheduled performance at the Mamalisa event in Polokwane.
In a statement shared on social media, the musician addressed his absence, explaining that unexpected fuel shortages disrupted travel plans.
According to the statement, Kelvin Momo and his team made several attempts to secure diesel ahead of the trip but were unsuccessful.
“Dear Fans and Stakeholders, we would like to extend our heartfelt apologies to all stakeholders, fans, and everyone who was looking forward to seeing Kelvin Momo perform at the Mamalisa event in Polokwane,” the statement read.
It further detailed the efforts made to salvage the situation, noting that the team visited multiple petrol stations in search of fuel but ultimately had to abandon the journey.
“Unfortunately, Kelvin Momo was unable to attend due to unforeseen fuel shortages. Despite efforts by him and his team who visited multiple petrol stations, they were unable to secure diesel in time, and ultimately had to make the difficult decision to return home.”
The organisers also echoed the apology in a caption accompanying the statement, writing, “We sincerely apologize for Kelvin Momo’s absence last night. Unforeseen fuel shortages prevented him from attending the event. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work on a new date.”
Acknowledging the disappointment caused, the statement assured fans that plans are already underway to reschedule the performance.
“We sincerely understand the disappointment and inconvenience this may have caused to fans and the Mamalisa stakeholders. Please be assured that both Kelvin Momo and the Mamalisa team are committed to finding a suitable new date that works for all parties.”
The artist concluded by thanking supporters for their patience and continued backing, expressing hope to make it up to fans soon.
