Shebeshxt faces urgent leg surgery as new bail bid looms
Shebeshxt is reportedly in need of urgent medical treatment while his legal battle for bail continues to unfold in court.
The Limpopo artist, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, has been in custody since November 2025 and remains behind bars after several unsuccessful attempts to secure release.
He is facing multiple serious charges, including attempted murder, robbery and firearm-related offences, with the courts previously ruling that he failed to demonstrate “exceptional circumstances” to justify bail.
According to medical expert Dr Chaba, the musician urgently requires a surgical procedure on his right leg.
The operation, known as Open Reduction Internal Fixation, is reportedly needed to correct complications linked to a screw that was inserted following a car accident in June 2024.
Buzz Life reports that the doctor has warned that delaying the procedure could have serious consequences.
If not addressed in time, the condition may worsen, potentially leading to intense pain and even deformation of the leg.
Despite the medical concerns, Shebeshxt remains in custody as his legal team pushes forward with a renewed effort to secure bail.
His lawyer, Michael Khumalo, confirmed in court that they are preparing to file a fresh application based on new developments, stating they intend to proceed “for the purposes of an application for bail based on new facts”.
Prosecutors, however, have consistently opposed his release, maintaining that the case against him is strong and arguing that he could pose a risk if granted bail.
Previous court findings also raised concerns that his release might “undermine the criminal justice system”.
As the matter moves toward trial in the regional court, the musician is expected to remain in custody, even as questions grow over how quickly he will receive the medical treatment he now urgently requires.
