Radio personality Zola Mhlongo turned heads on social media after unveiling her breathtaking outfit for the Metro FM Music Awards 2026.
The elegant dress, designed by Somizi Mhlongo, was more than just a fashion statement.
It featured a striking portrait of Busi Mhlongo, a legendary South African singer known for her powerful fusion of traditional Zulu music with jazz, funk and world music.
Widely respected for her unique sound and cultural impact, Busi remains one of the country’s most celebrated musical icons.
Sharing photos of the look, Zola described the outfit as a deeply meaningful creation.
“NJOMANE THE LEGACY. 3 generations of talent. This is not just a dress. It’s an art piece that will be enjoyed for generations to come. Paying homage to Mam Busi Mhlongo. 12 weeks of dangling beads. Crafted by the gifted Morgan Mahape @mahapemorgan and designed by Somizi for @sompirefemme,” she wrote.
According to her post, the intricate garment took 12 weeks to complete, with detailed beadwork carefully crafted by designer Morgan Mahape, bringing Somizi’s vision to life.
Fans and followers quickly flooded the comments section with praise, applauding both the creativity and the cultural significance of the dress.
