Rachel Kolisi shares recovery update after surgery: “We move”
Author and motivational speaker Rachel Kolisi has opened up about her recovery journey after recently undergoing shoulder surgery.
The estranged wife of Siya Kolisi first revealed that she had been hospitalised before later confirming that she underwent surgery on Monday, 18 May.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Rachel shared a light-hearted “proof of life” update as she recovered at home.
“I thought I would do a proof of life video… and I also thought it would be best to do a video when I was off pain medication. Just to ensure nothing interesting comes out of my mouth,” she joked.
Rachel admitted that one of the photos she previously shared from hospital may have appeared more serious than intended.
She explained that the image was simply meant to capture a sweet family moment while her children looked after her during recovery.
“All is well… I’m going to attempt a shower today. I had a shoulder operation on Monday (last week) and I’m really sorry that I put that second picture that I put on my post because it does look way more dramatic than what it needed to be but I was just trying to show that the kids were doing a facial for me so I was trying to show something sweet,” she said.
The mother of four also reflected on the support she has received from loved ones since the operation.
Sharing a Reel on Instagram, Rachel described the past week as challenging but expressed gratitude to those who stepped in to help her and her family.
“Obviously not ideal. But is what it is. Made it through the first week post op, only because I have the most amazing people around me. So grateful for every call, lift, message, meal, kids pick up, homework and and and.. THANK YOU. We move 💪🏼♥️.”
