Tyla dragged over Future photo as fans accuse her of treating local supporters differently
Tyla has found herself at the centre of another social media storm after a photo of her posing alongside American rap star Future sparked accusations of double standards.
The Grammy-winning singer recently teamed up with Future on a FIFA Sound collaboration linked to the FIFA World Cup.
As part of the rollout, promotional images of the pair surfaced online, with one particular photo quickly becoming a talking point among fans.
Rather than focusing on the music, social media users zeroed in on Future’s arm resting over Tyla’s shoulder, drawing comparisons to a recent interaction between the singer and a South African fan.
The earlier incident, which went viral online, showed a male supporter asking Tyla for permission to pose with his arm around her while taking a picture.
The singer declined the request, prompting discussions about personal boundaries and consent.
However, after seeing the new images with Future, some online users questioned why the gesture appeared acceptable in one situation but not the other.
The comparison quickly ignited debate, with critics accusing Tyla of being more comfortable with international celebrities than with her local supporters.
“This is how Americans are allowed to touch Tyla; the South Africans can’t get close,” wrote one user.
Another added, “She let Future put his hand over her, but she said no to the poor guy? Being broke is painful.”
Others also revisited the earlier fan encounter, with one user commenting, “And she told that other guy not to put his hands around her.”
A fourth person questioned, “So Future gets to touch her?”
The criticism has fuelled a broader conversation online, with some arguing that the two situations are not comparable, while others insist the contrasting images send mixed messages.
