On Wednesday, the health department reported the latest COVID-19 cases.
Dr Zweli Mkhize, Health Minister said they’ve identified 1,990 new cases.
In South Africa, 642,431 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed.
Moreover, the health department have also recorded 82 COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours.
Gauteng recorded the highest number of deaths, with a record of 27 deaths, KwaZulu-Natal and North West both recorded 10 deaths, Free State recorded 8 deaths and Eastern Cape recorded the least, with 5 deaths.
As it stands now, the total death toll has gotten to 15,168.
However, the recovery rate stands at 88.7 percent. Since the last report, a total of 21,736 new tests have been conducted.
