These details were provided after an oral question to Education MEC Debbie Schäfer
On Sunday, the Western Cape government said key aspects of the education system have been monitored closely for a while now.
The key aspects is needed to successfully finish up with the remainder of the academic year.
Officials said the attendance for grade 7s and 12s pupils improved immensely from its previous state at the beginning of June.
These details were provided after an oral question to Education MEC Debbie Schäfer.
Lorraine Botha, who is a member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) said there has been a low attendance rate among grade 4 and 10 pupils.
“The increasing rate of attendance can be attributed to the decrease in COVID-19 infections and reduced levels of anxiety,” Botha said.
However, Botha has beckoned on pupils to keep up with the hard work as the school year comes to a close soon.
“There are 14 weeks left of the 2020 academic year and with the nature of the mandatory phased in approached, contact time is dramatically reduced due to alternating attendance of grades,” she said.
