Bheki Cele set to visit family of slain top officer Charl Kinnear

Following the fatal shooting of an active anti-gang unit officer, Charl Kinnear on Friday, the police minister Bheki Cele is expected to pay a condolence visit to his family.

Cele’s spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba confirmed that the minister will be visiting his family on Saturday.


The minister will also receive a progress report on the investigation.

The high-profile police investigator, Kinnear was shot dead outside his home in Bishop Lavis on Friday.

A 72-hour action plan has been set up by the National Police Commissioner, Kehla Sithole to trace and arrest those involved in the murder of the police officer.

This action plan will give way for the mobalisation of crucial departments including crime intelligence, the Hawks and forensic experts to be able to carry out their investigations.

The Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz is also calling on eyewitnesses or anyone with information that can aid in the investigation of the officer’s murder to reach out to the police.
