A mother and her four children in the Free State are declared dead after the mother allegedly poisoned the minors and herself.
The police on Monday disclosed that they were investigating the death case which occurred in Phamong Village in Qwa-Qwa over the weekend.
It was reported that only a six-month-old baby survived the tragedy.
Police spokesperson, Motantse Makhele said Mangale Mabaso’s mother met her daughter and five grandchildren lying on the floor.
According to the police, 29-year old Mabaso, nine-year-old Pheelo and six-year-old Teboho were declared dead on scene.
“She apparently left her house and returned to her parents’ home with her kids.”
“It was on Saturday when her mother found her 29-year-old daughter and her five children lying on the floor.”
“An ambulance was called and the mother and two kids, aged 6 and 9, were declared dead on the scene.”
The other two children, aged four and eight, died in the hospital.
Only a six-month-old baby survived and he is being treated in hospital.
It is understood that the mother allegedly poisoned herself and her children after an argument with her partner.
