DJ Oskido speaks of his legacy, how he started life in the industry including how he has being able to manage fatherhood, and he topped the story with how he’s grown to maturity.
The 50 years old revealed to Channels on many aspects of his life. He narrated how a person’s disappointment led to his success. He hustled growing up and was asked to fill up for a DJ who failed to show up at a club… that was how the whole DJing started.
He added that he’s not an alcoholic addict and he’s learnt to eat healthy. He also mentioned that fame kills so, he keeps his life private and neglects showing off his achievements or properties.
“I try to eat healthily and exercise, and I avoid alcohol most of the time.” We compliment him on his home and ask if we can photograph it, but he refuses, shaking his head. I don’t like to brag and to show off, man–you know me. Showing off has done nothing for my career. In life, you learn every day and I’ve learnt bragging does not bring me any joy. Instead, one becomes the envy of the town.”
Speaking on fatherhood, he said; “Being a single dad is difficult because of my busy schedule. My children look up to me and I’ve made a lot of mistakes with them watching but as they grow I’ve learnt to speak to them about everything.”
“I want my children to be proud of me. I want them to say, ‘That’s my man’ even when they get into relationships with men.”
He added that one of his children has the same drive and passion he has for music. He said that he can see himself in his son Bass.
However, the DJ is growing and getting older by the day but this is not an end to his career as he have more upcoming gig he’s working on.
