Soweto Gospel Choir has once again taken South Africa to the world as they bagged their 3rd Grammy.
The Group won their first Grammy in 2007 for their second CD “Blessed” in the category Best Traditional World Music.
The choir’s second Grammy came from their collaboration with Peter Gabriel, for the song Down To Earth from the movie Wall-E.
The 3rd award was for the album, Freedom, which was released last year as part of the group’s tribute to the 100 Years of Mandela celebrations. The album producer Diniloxolo Ndlakuse Shimmy Jiyane, Mary Mulovhedzi and Mulalo Mulovhedzi, whose late father David Mulovhedzi co-founded the group with producer Beverly Bryer 17 years ago received the award.
Congratulatory messages has flooded social media as South Africans are at the peak of their excitement.
