2019 will be remembered as the year Amapiano took over the country. The undisputed king of that genre is Kabza De Small. Kabza has been on top of the Amapiano game since his EP Avenue Sessions but only became acclaimed following the hit Umshove and linking up with DJ Maphorisa.
This organic growth has led him to the top of Spotify chart list for 2019. Kabza, who claims to be younger than most of us, has been named as the most streamed South African on Spotify in 2019. DJ Maphorisa and Nasty C are second and third
Shekhinah was the most streamed female South African musician while Prince Kaybee’s album Re Mmino was the most streamed album. Black Coffee’s Drive was the most streamed song by a South African the whole year.
