South African youths aren’t pleased with the Government while celebrating Youth’s day due to the “failed” effort made in 2015 on the Fees Must Fall campaign for free education.
Many youth have voiced out bitterly saying that the change expected has not been met.
Smangaliso Mashego who is a 26-years-old graduate was among the thousands of student demanding for free education in 2015; He explained having a huge debt which has been accumulating from the year 2014 till 2017.
”We wanted educational freedom, we wanted to be able to access education without any barriers of finance, but so far it seems as if these things that we wanted from the beginning haven’t been resolved, because even now I still have debts. My fees still haven’t been paid,” he said.
Another victim named Diana Masingue speaks of her struggle of getting job and securing a future due to her outstanding debt. She explained how excited she was during the Fee Must Fall movement thinking it will yield a good result, unfortunately, the fee hasn’t fallen.
“It’s very hard looking for a job, knowing that you don’t have a qualification to show employers. We are competing with other rolex replica graduates who have their qualification and some even have the experience,” she said.
However, we hope their expectations are met and the Fees Must Fall campaign yields positive effect.
