A Nanny was arrested for domestic abuse between 2017 and 2018 after the mother of child reinstate a case against her.
The mother who approached the Brakpan police with a complaint stated that the matter was not thoroughly investigated to her satisfaction.
Brakpan police spokesperson, Capt Pearl van Staad, said that the alleged mother reported that she hired a nanny to look after her son who was disabled, while she go to work. The child would have bruises on the body and marks on the forehead. The said mother cautioned the nanny to be more careful but the child’s condition didn’t improve.
However, in August 2018 the child sustained a serious facial bruises. She then decided to install cameras in his bedroom and saw the footage of the nanny abusing her son. She reported the matter to SAPS where she also made mention that the worker had two cellphones and that she’s possibly using a false name.
Lt Col Vernon Chetty followed up the information received on Thursday last week, which led to the arrest of the 36-year-old female in the Sebokeng. She appeared in court on Friday, June 12 and also expected on Friday, June 19 for a formal bail application.
