Eskom have called in the German cavalry to assist with their flailing efforts to ensure that maintenance on problematic power generating infrastructure is fixed.

German engineers, technicians and experts touched down Johannesburg on Thursday 16 July, 2020.

The team will provide essential services and expertise to local German businesses and local entities, with Eskom set to benefit the most from the time they spend in South Africa as the state owned company battles to stave off load shedding.

Martin Schäfer, German Ambassador to SA who also returned to the country on Thursday, said that the arrangement brokered by International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Naledi Pandor and Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas among various others will hopefully provide Eskom and other businesses with a much needed boost.

“The experts of German companies operating in SA will hopefully make their valuable contribution to kick-start the country’s economy and reignite exports of high-tech products proudly ‘Made in South Africa.”
