SA Lockdown: Education department releases amended school calendar

The revised school calendar is out.

This is the second time this year that the calendar has been revised due to the impact of COVID-19.


However, public schools will resume classes on 24 August, and there will be a week’s break from 26 to 39 October.

Completion of the 2020 matric examination would be on 15 December.

Marking will conclude on 22 January 2021 and results will be released on 23 February.

Also, teachers will begin the 2021 school year on 25 January and pupils, a few days later.

The Basic Education Minister will issue directions for the sector next week.
