Manchester United have left their fans and social media abuzz after launching a modern new 2020/21 home jersey on Tuesday morning

Manchester United have officially launched their new Adidas home kit for the 2020/21 campaign.

The jersey represents the modern age of football with yellow and black threads worked through the traditional Manchester United red base.

The jersey will be the Red Devil’s home kit for the upcoming season, which will see them participate in the Champions League after securing a top four finish. They will also make use of their new design in the upcoming UEFA Europa League knockout phase which begins this week.

The Red Devils are known to have some of football’s most passionate supporters around and Adidas design director Inigo Turner believes the new kit embodies exactly what the club stands for.

โ€œFor this season, we researched the values and iconography that connect athlete and fan, and looked to fuse these with modernity and innovation, to create something that connects the people and stands for unity.โ€ Inigo told the club’s official website.

โ€œWe pretty quickly landed on the crest as it is the representation of the heart and passion of the club, and it is symbolic and iconic across the world. It is significant as the first component added to each design, and one that makes up the threads of the shirt design for the 2020/21 season.โ€

The jersey was created using Adidas’s HEAT.RDY cooling technology, while white shorts and black socks complete the look.

โ€œThe Manchester United DNA has been a focus for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team, and the home jersey for the forthcoming 2020/21 season aims to encapsulate the DNA of the club, using the threads of the club crest itself to produce a subtly patterned base fabric.โ€

โ€œTaking influence from the intricacies of the yarn-stitched application onto the shirt, a fine graphic print provides a unique pattern and detailing onto a colour-block background. The name of the club is also proudly engineered into the print, visible through the use of different red tones.โ€

United are gearing up for their Europa League last-16 second leg against LASK on Wednesday night. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have a massive 5-0 lead from the first leg. The match kicks off at 21:00 (SAST) and will be live on SuperSport 3.
