Two robbers have been arrested after their victims raised alarms.
Golden Arrow commuters have been commended for their quick and smart thinking after informing authorities that their alleged robbers from previous days were on the same bus with them.
The four suspects were on the Claremont-Makhaza bus route on Wednesday when some victims who had been robbed on three different days recognized them.
City of Cape Town law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason said at 17:20, the bus had to stop at the corner of Robert Sobukwe and Duinefontein Road.
The victims identified the robbers and pointed them out to the law enforcement reaction team.
One commuter identified the man that robbed her in a bus on 31 June and 25 July.
“One suspect on the bus was found to match her description and positively identified,” said Dyason.
Another commuter identified the other that allegedly robbed her of her cellphone on Monday.
The officers took the two alleged robbers to Philippi East police station, where they were arrested.
“We are very relieved that the alleged perpetrators have been apprehended. We believe strongly that the only way to remedy the situation is for these perpetrators to be caught and to face the full might of the law,” said Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer.
She said they relied on the skills and authority of SAPS and law enforcement to arrest brazen criminals.
