An announcement was made by Eskom that there would be continuation of Stage 2 load-shedding from 9am to 10pm on Wednesday.
Eskom mentioned that they did a breakdown of four units overnight at some power station locations – Medupi, Duvha, Majuba, and Lethabo power stations, and also caused a delay at Medupi in relation to ‘return to service’ of a unit.
These further led to the power system to be constrained.
Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Eskom spokesperson said in a statement that an end to load-shedding might likely not happen this week.
He also said that there is a possibility power cuts might press on next week.
The power utility has advised customers to try reduce the way they consume electricity, so as to ease the strain on the system.
