Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court has notified a Jouberton club owner to appear in court for opening his Nightclub.
According to police, the 54-year-old owner of a night club has been called upon by the court for breaking lockdown protocols.
The notice came in after a video went viral on social media “showing what looks like more than 50 patrons breaking lockdown regulations at a night club in Jouberton, North West province”.
“The 54-year-old owner of the night club has been issued with a notice to appear before the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on 28 August 2020.”
“He may also select to pay an admission of guilt fine of R2, 000, payable on or before 7 September 2020,” police said.
According to the laid down regulation in Level 2 lockdown risk-adjusted strategy, clubs are not allowed to operate.
In a media briefing hosted by the Tourism minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane on Wednesday, it was indicated that nightclubs should remain close till further notice.
“The issue of nightclubs, they are not allowed now in terms of the regulations,” said Kubayi-Ngubane.
