Three men have been killed in New Canada informal settlement in Soweto.
The community members notified the police when they saw that there were dead bodies lying next to the settlement.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Mavela Masondo said after they received the information on Wednesday afternoon. “police proceeded to the scene, where they discovered two bodies with gunshot wounds on the upper body,” he said.
“While the police were busy with preliminary investigation, the community took them to the nearby mine, where the third, partly decomposed body was discovered.”
He said ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene around 2pm but nothing could be done for the deceased anymore. They were declared dead.
He explained that the reason for the killings is unknown and the deceased are yet to be identified.
However, the police have taken this up and are investigating the circumstances that led to the murder of the three people.
The police are also appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in apprehending the suspects to please call their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
